Labor of the Heart

This week I was blessed enough to meet a truly special family with an incredibly strong little girl.  Lillian Taylor, who turned three today, has two congenital heart defects, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Coarctation of the Aorta. In her mother's words, "She basically only has half a heart, the right side...she is a TRUE miracle!"  Little Lillian has had three open heart surgeries so far and will likely have a fourth soon.

Lillian is so brave.  Most three year olds are either a bit shy at their shoot, or ready to show me all their best poses and model moves, but Lillian was different.  She wanted to explore every inch of the location.  She trekked off on her own a number of times, fearless, into fields, in the woods, looking for puppies, hungry for more.

I have to admit, I believe the strength Lillian possesses exists because of the example set by her mother.  As a mother of a toddler, not much younger than Lilli, I am amazed at the joy and perseverance evident in Keeley Taylor.  Lilli's future is uncertain to say the least, and her mother uses each moment of each day to show her love.  Backing Keeley up is her loving husband, supporting them and working hard to allow momma and kiddos more time together.  Keeley says their strength comes from the Lord, and her faith is evident in her consistent joy.

If your heartstrings have any more slack left to pull, I must tell you about precious Levi.  Lilli was not even a year old when Keeley found out she was pregnant with Levi.  Scared, worried, and simply overwhelmed, Keeley and Trevor did not know how to take the news.  But, it is completely obvious, Levi was brought into their lives to bring a new depth of love.  He has the sweetest demeanor, and may just be my new little man model.  He is truly a delight!!

I cannot say enough how grateful I am to provide portraits of this family, and their precious little girl.  Thanks, Taylors!

If Lilli's story has touched your heart, please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association.  Click here to look into donating.

Do you know someone with an amazing story of strength and faith?  Please let me know!  From time to time I hope to provide free sessions to deserving families, babies, children or seniors.  Your suggestions are welcome!

A Day in the Life Sessions

Appreciating photography is all about realizing life is temporary and fleeting.  Moments pass often before we can capture them on film, and we realize this all too late.  A Day in the Life Sessions are a fun way to capture not only your child at their age, but also their lifestyle, and your home.

With A Day in the Life Sessions, I travel to your home for up to a two hour photo shoot.  This enables you to have professional photos of your child at your home.  You get to have memories beautifully frozen just as you lived them.  As wonderful as traditional shoots are, these are even more special and unique.  A child's look not only changes so quickly, but their rooms, their interests, their activities, all change as well.  What better way to hold onto this time in your life than A Day in the Life Session?

All you have to do is contact Kathryn Richey Photos at 870-476-0971 or kathryn@houndsden.com, and schedule.  I'll bring my gear and myself to you!
